We are currently going door-to-door canvassing with a petition demanding that new development on the lower eastside meet the approval of and provide benefits to longterm residents.

We are also making the petition available online. You can read and sign here if you support our demands for community benefits.

Thank you to all who came to our first monthly meeting since the Covid-19 pandemic. We plan to continue our monthly meetings this fall via Zoom, so please lookout for our October 20th meeting details to come later.
From our photo archives, a look back at CVA’s July 2017 March and Rally Against Displacement, Resegregation, and Gentrification. We marched from Butzel Community Center in the streets and throughout the neighborhoods, ending up at Genesis Lutheran Church for a community speak-out. CVA President Toyia Watts said at the time, “I am making this fight to save the investment that my parents left me, and that I in return want to leave to my children. That investment is my home and my neighborhood. My parents worked hard to provide us with a stable home and community, and I did the same for my kids. My house and neighborhood has too many memories to let greedy developers and the City take that away.”
Happy Birthday Madam President Toyia Watts!!! We are so grateful to know you, to love you and learn from you! Photo by @ryangarza from the recent profile of Charlevoix Village by @johncarlislefreep link in our bio
